Arvinder Singh was born to former minister and veteran Congress leader [[Buta Singh]], in a [[Scheduled Caste]] [[Sikh]] family. In the [[2008 Delhi Legislative Assembly election|2008 Delhi Assembly elections]], Congress gave him a ticket from Deoli.
