Cornaro was a Venetian [[aristocrat]] born in Trapezonta [[Sitia]] on the island of [[Crete]]. He was the son of Giaccomo Cornaro and Issaveta (Zampia) Demezo and the brother of [[Vikentios Kornaros|Vincenzo Cornaro]]. He was married twice, first to Carnarola Zen until her death, and then to Anezina Zen.&lt;br /&gt;

His [[fiefdom]] included the villages of Voni, Zofori and [[Thrapsano]]&amp;lt;ref&amp;gt;Κρητικά Χρονικά Θ΄(1955) Ή διαθήκη τοϋ Αντρέα Κορνάρου&amp;lt;/ref&amp;gt; in today&amp;#039;s prefecture of [[Heraklion]].&lt;br /&gt;

In 1591 he founded the [[Philological]] Academy of the Weird (L&amp;#039; Accademia degli Stravaganti) in [[Heraklion|Candia]] (now Heraklion).&amp;lt;ref&amp;gt;[[Giambattista Basile]]. &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[Pentamerone|Lo cunto de li cunti]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039; (1891) page. 36&amp;lt;/ref&amp;gt; He wrote hundreds of poems in Italian. He also wrote &amp;#039;&amp;#039;History of [[Crete]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039; (Historia Candiana). These works were saved but never printed.&lt;br /&gt;

He died in 1616, at the age of 69. His burial took place in the [[monastery]] of Saint Francisco in [[Heraklion|Candia]].&lt;br /&gt;
