He joined government service as a Doctor in the early 1980s and resigned in the late 1980s after establishing his own private hospital in [[Sirsa]], [[Haryana]]. Sidhu gained immense popularity among the locals as a Doctor, he soon expanded his private hospitals chain by establishing hospitals in [[Nohar]], [[Rajasthan]] and [[Ellenabad]], [[Haryana]]. Sidhu till date majorly practices in these regions.

Sidhu joined the [[Indian National Congress]] in 2008 and challenged Chautala's [[Indian National Lok Dal]] from Nohar, Rajasthan. However, he was unsuccessful. Sidhu served as the President of the Doctor's cell in the Congress and was a member of the [[All India Professionals Congress]]. He failed consecutively in 2008, 2013, 2018 elections- Sidhu is a relative of Senior [[Bharatiya Janata Party]] leader and former minister late. Dr. [[Digamber Singh]]. He joined the BJP in 2019 months before the Haryana legislative assembly elections, he was welcome in the party by Chief Minister [[Manohar Lal Khattar]] and State BJP President Subhash Barala. Sidhu failed in the 2019 Haryana assembly elections too. He remains active in the party organisation.
