''Accident'' was produced in two months. While filming the climax, Anant Nag, who was playing Dharmadhikari, was to be shot in the courtyard of his house as he had wanted to base it around the [[assassination of Indira Gandhi]], but Shankar Nag did not agree and changed the ending of the film.<ref>{{cite news| url=http://www.thehindu.com/todays-paper/tp-features/tp-fridayreview/the-final-accident/article805333.ece| title = The final accident |newspaper= The Hindu | location=Chennai, India| date=1 October 2010}}</ref> This movie was released on 9th November 1984, just 9 days after Indira Gandhi's assassination on 31st October 1984, making it very unlikely that the climax was changed in response to the event.<br />
