Apsara Theatre was inaugurated on 8 August 1971 by Malayalam actors [[Prem Nazir|Prem Naseer]] and [[Sarada (actress)|Sharada]]. The family-owned single screen theatre was founded by Thomman Joseph Kochupuraikal.
