Shashi Kumar's first released film was ''Chiranjeevi Sudhakara'' starring [[Raghavendra Rajkumar]]. In 1989 he became popular with ''[[Yuddha Kaanda]]'' starring [[V. Ravichandran]] and [[Poonam Dhillon]] and acted in key roles in big films like C.B.I Shankar and Sangliayana 2. Two successful 1990 films ''Rani Maharani'' and Baare Nanna Muddina Rani established him as a top hero of Kannada cinema. Shashi Kumar and [[Malashri]], who acted together in several hit films together are considered one among the all-time popular pairs of [[Kannada]] cinema. The priests of the Paris Foreign Missions Society began running a school for European boys on Museum Road in 1904 and decided decades later to reach out to poor Catholics and established an Indian boys boarding school at St Joseph’s Commerce College on Brigade Road. In 1972 this St. Joseph's Indian school moved to its present campus. The [[Sports Authority of India]] aided the school in building a swimming pool, gymnasium and hostel. A new building for the high school and PU College was completed in December 2006. In 2007, St. Joseph’s Community College began to develop on the campus. At the platinum jubilee celebration of St. Joseph's in 1979, film actress [[Nutan]] sang for "Nutan Musical Nite". The centenary celebrations were in 2004.

On-campus are a middle school and high school with a pre-university college, along with the community college; CAD coaching is also undertaken. The Community College was initiated in 2005 in the Ashirvad slum area for school drop-outs. In 2006 it was moved to the High School grounds. In 2010 its courses were all certified by [[Indira Gandhi National Open University]], and since 2013 further diploma courses have been certified by the [[University Grants Commission (India)|University Grants Commission]]. At its tenth anniversary in 2015 a sports and cultural fest was conducted at which the college magazine ''UJWALA'' appeared. Over 1,300 students have passed through the college, studying in the areas of skills and trades, hospitality, beauticians and fitness, IT/ITES, printing, electronics, multimedia and communication technology. Students have come from throughout Karnataka and beyond.<ref name=":0"/>

Facilities include an auditorium which seats 800 and a hall seating 400. Sports facilities include basketball and volleyball courts and an Astroturf stadium used for hockey, rugby, football, handball, and cricket. There was controversy for his naked appearance in a sequence in his latest Telugu release ''[[Ongole Githa]]''. The film got an "A Certificate" from the Censor Board. Prakash reacted by saying: "I did not shed my clothes for creating sensation, I had no plans to star in that sequence. The script demanded it; as an actor, I have to abide by the script. Several Kannada organisations staged protests in front of theatres since they felt that some of the dialogue in a scene in the Hindi film ''[[Singham]]'', starring [[Ajay Devgan]] and Prakash were derogatory against the Kannadigas. The [[Karnataka]] Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) had demanded the deletion of all "objectionable" dialogue from the movie. The screening was stopped in major centres of Karnataka. The controversial scene starts off with Prakash threatening Ajay that he would bring 1,000 people from the Karnataka border to thrash him. Ajay (who plays Bajirao Singham, a Maratha), retorts that one lion would suffice to shoo away a thousand dogs. The controversy assumes significance in the backdrop of the decades-old border dispute between Karnataka and [[Maharashtra]]. Kannada protesters also felt that Prakash, being a [[Kannada people|Kannadiga]] should have told the team that it is not right. Prakash reacted to it to the [[Kannada language|Kannada]] and the [[Telugu language|Telugu]] media by saying: "I am a Kannadiga myself and I love my mother tongue Kannada. I'm very proud of my community and would never deliberately do anything to hurt my people. How would I allow conversations that provide pain to people of Karnataka in any movie in which I am cast? There is nothing controversial about the dialogue. ==Plot==
Subramaniam is a lower-middle-class widower with two kids. He works from dawn to dusk to bring up his daughter Kaveri and son Karthik. He wishes to give them a good education. He wants to see his son become an MBA graduate. But his son not interested in studies. Fourteen-year-old Karthik wants to become a good cricketer. His inspiration is [[M. S. Dhoni|Mahendra Singh Dhoni]] and like him, he wants to be an attacking wicketkeeper-batsman.

While Subramaniam enrolls him in a good school, Karthik fails in most of the subjects. However, his cricket coach is in all praise, as Karthik played a major role in winning a cricket tournament. Kaveri often spends time with Nalini. Subramaniam learns that Nalini earns her living through prostitution and strictly orders his daughter to stay away from her. As Karthik is poor in studies, the principal tells Subramaniam to take his son out.

Immediately Subramaniam takes Karthik away from cricket coaching and makes him to go a series of tuition classes. Karthik fails to cope with his studies even after leaving cricket, which makes Subramaniam lose his patience. He beats him and injures his head by mistake for which he is arrested. As Karthik goes into a coma, Subramaniam is very upset. He thanks Nalini for helping him pay the hospital bill.

When Subramaniam goes to his school to collect things from Karthik's locker, he finds many trophies and certificates which makes him argue with the teacher that if his son is not good at studies it does not mean that he is good for nothing. Soon he goes for TV shows to debate. As he is working in a government office they ban him from going to the office and cancel the loan for his son's operation. Subramaniam cannot bear it anymore and he goes to a function where the chief minister comes, he talks with the minister about all this. The minister promises him that there will be changes and he will get the money for his son's operation. Karthik's operation is successfully done. Karthik plays the final tournament in his school he hits the last ball which goes for a six and he wins the match. The movie ends as his coach and Subramaniam carry him.
