Rati Raut was a friend of Raja Agrasen Singh of Jaithariya dynasty, he did not have a single son, he married his daughter to Gaj Singh, son of Raja Agrasen Singh. Later Gaj Singh became the king of Bettiah, but he also did not have any child, so he declared his nephew as his successor.&lt;br /&gt;

Rati Raut was born on 22 January 1602 in Champaran district, Bihar, into a royal family.  His father was the king of a small part of [[West Champaran district|West Champaran]].
