On 19 March 1883, Chiplunkar was appointed as a member of the Poona Municipal Corporation where he effected administrative reform currently practiced, an honor given to twelve distinguished citizens including [[Gopal Krishna Gokhale]], [[Jyotirao Phule]], Dr. [[R. P. Paranjpe|R.P. Paranjpe]] (KCIE), [[Hari Narayan Apte]], Dr. Vishram Ramji Ghole, and [[M. Visvesvaraya|Sir M Visvesvaraya]].{{Citation needed|date=February 2019}}

Chiplunkar was a founding member of the [[Deccan Education Society]], Poona, and [[Fergusson College]], and remained an active member of the Satyashodhak Samaj from 1858 to 1883.{{Citation needed|date=February 2019}}

Known for his charismatic personality and affable nature, Hari Raoji Chiplunkar struck a friendship with the [[Duke of Connaught]] for whom he hosted a reception and banquet in 1888. Chiplunkar built the Connaught House in what is known today as Sadhu Vaswani Chowk, where the Duke and Duchess of Connaught were given a red carpet reception. It was at this banquet, on 2 March 1888 where among the royal guests, dignitaries, industrialists and preeminent families from Bombay and Poona, Mahatma Phule chose to appear as a poor farmer wearing only a short dhoti, an old shirt, and worn out shoes.<ref>{{cite web | url=http://www.unipune.ac.in/chairs/mahatma_phule_chair/mphule_webfiles/Life_%20&%20_Work.htm | title=Life And Work of Mahatma Jotirao Phule | publisher=University of Pune | accessdate=26 May 2018 }}</ref> He proceeded to make a stirring speech on the destitution of the untouchables and lower classes, encouraged the Duke to visit the villages of India and witness the conditions shared by nearly nineteen crore Indians living in abject poverty. Social reformer [[Savitribai Phule]] was present at Hari Raoji Chiplunkar's funeral in 1896. '''Boora Narsaiah Goud''' (born 2 March 1959) is an Indian politician. He served as a [[Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha|Member of Parliament]] in the [[16th Lok Sabha]] representing [[Bhongir (Lok Sabha constituency)|Bhongir]] constituency from the [[Telangana Rashtra Samithi]].

He earlier was laparoscopic, obesity and gastrointestinal surgeon from [[Telangana]], India. He was an active proponent of Telangana statehood and was a member of Telangana Joint Action Committee.

He is currently the director of Hyderabad Institute of Laparoendoscopic Surgery (HILS) and provides services at Aditya Hospital and Care Hospital in Telangana. He is the founding chairman of Boora Laxmaiah and Rajamma(BLR) foundation to provide free laparoscopic infertility services for childless couples. He is also credited with spreading awareness of laparoscopic surgery in rural areas of Telangana.

He is pioneer of laparoscopic surgery in India and did more than 32,000 procedures for his credit. He is a Teacher, Academician, Trainer in laparoscopy, writer and social worker.
