== History ==
The university completed its establishment in 2008 by the [[Government of West Bengal]]. At present there are 23 [[Post Graduate|PG]] departments running with near about 2500 enrollment. 25 General degree colleges with enrollment of 1.50 Lakhs in [[Malda district|Malda]], [[Uttar Dinajpur]] and [[Dakshin Dinajpur]] districts, with the exception of [[Raiganj College (University College)|Raiganj University College]], are affiliated with this university. The university is situated on {{jct|NH|12|country=IND}} (old N.H. 34) near Rabindra Bhavan. The Central Bus Terminus is adjacent to the University campus. The University of Gour Banga (UGB) is established by [[West Bengal]] Act XXVI of 2007 and located at [[English Bazar]] area of [[Malda district]] in [[West Bengal]]. It is one of the newest state universities established by the [[Government of West Bengal]] to address the concerns of ‘equity and access’ and to increase the access to quality higher education for people in less educationally developed districts of [[Malda district|Malda]], [[Uttar Dinajpur]] and [[Dakshin Dinajpur]] which have a Graduate Enrolment Ratio of less than the state average and National average as well. The UGB, with its territorial jurisdiction of all over [[Malda district|Malda]], [[Uttar Dinajpur]] and [[Dakshin Dinajpur]] districts initiated its academic activities from the academic year 2008 in keeping with the philosophy of achieving and maintaining the highest levels of academic excellence and meeting the aspiration of the socio-economically backward segments of Muslims, SC and ST which constitute more than 75 percent of the population in its catchment area.

Prof. Surabhi Bandyopadhyay, the former [[vice-chancellor]] of [[Netaji Subhas Open University]], became the first vice chancellor of the university, while the former [[Registrar (education)|registrar]] of [[University of North Bengal]], Dr. Tapash Kumar Chattopadhyay, became the first acting registrar, all in 2008. Rakshit is also in charge of designing the main building of the University of Gour Banga, which started functioning from the ground-floor of the Post-Graduate Section of [[Malda College]] in 2008. == Plot ==
Three individuals - Akshay Kumar ([[Tusshar Kapoor]]), Mr. Joshi ([[Anupam Kher]]), and Lambodar Jha ([[Rajpal Yadav]]) have their own share of troubles as a common man. While Akshay is a struggling crime reporter, Mr. Joshi is a retired accountant troubled by his ungrateful son. Lambodhar works as a mascot in a mall but tells his son he has a business. Lambodar finds it difficult to deal with his wife over his job and is very aggressive to tall people because he is very short and is often mocked for his height. Together they share their plight and find solace in each other's company.

Akshay wants to marry the love of his life, Priya (Raima Sen), the sister of the leader of [[D Company]], Dattu Bhai. Mr. Joshi wants to get 1 Crore from his son which he claims he has a right to since Mr. Joshi has spent 1 Crore raising his son. Akshay wants a portion of this money to run away from India with his girlfriend. To get this money, the trio call Joshi's son, claiming to be from a large gang called C Kkompany and threatens to kill his family if he does not comply. Through a series of events, this matter becomes public and the trio tries to keep it secret. Joshi has a friend whose apartment complex is being taken down by people backed by the D Company. Joshi and Lambhodhar plant a fake bomb in the car of a big D Company-backed businessman, saying that the next time, they could easily put a real bomb if the businessman does not stop the destruction of the apartment complex.

A show called "Sarkar ya C Kkompany" is aired on [[Zee TV]], with Akshay as the anchor. In the show, people call in with their problems and the viewers see if C Kkompany helps or the Sarkar (government). The trio initially decide to stop their extortion calls since they feel they might get caught, but after realising that people who come for help have problems way worse than theirs, decide to help them out of sympathy. However, the leader of D Company tries his best to discover the identity of the C Kkompany. He finds out that C Kkompany will be extorting 1 million from Joshi's son, and goes to the meeting point (a Carnival) to kill the C Kkompany members. He catches the trio, but is impressed and lets them go, while finally agreeing to let Priya marry Akshay.

In the end, Akshay marries Priya, with Dattu Bhai happily watching. Mr. Joshi gets his son's 1 Crore Rs., and claims he got a lottery to hide the fact that he was C Kkompany and that he extorted the money. Lambodar starts his own business, and a person has to be at least 6 feet tall to work there. The three live happily ever after, and the movie ends.

The tale of C KKcompany continues and it is found that now Sadashiv Pradhan is making the calls on C KKcompany behalf, unknown to Lambodhar, Joshi, and Akshay. Lambodhar, Joshi, and Akshay explain this to Dattubhai when questioned.

The floods and landslides in Uttarakhand was considered by many as the worst natural disaster in the area in a hundred years. == Early warning ==
India has an elaborate multi-tier and multi-agency natural disaster and flood Early Warning (EW) system, both at the Central and the State levels. Federal nodal agencies responsible for providing EW are:

Out of all the agencies above, only the India Meteorological Department warned of the tsunami that struck Uttarakhand in June 2013. The Central Water Commission, under the Union Ministry of Water Resources, made its first flood forecast for the year for Uttarakhand after the event on 18 June which impacted Rishikesh and Haridwar.<ref name="Rediff, 27 june">{{cite web|title=Forecasters played poker while Uttarakhand drowned|url=http://www.rediff.com/news/slide-show/slide-show-1-column-forecasters-played-poker-while-uttarakhand-drowned/20130627.htm|work=Rediff.com|accessdate=18 July 2013|date=27 June 2013}}</ref> The IMD's warnings had little effect, and few moved to safer places. The area of responsibility for the humanitarian assistance mission included the heavily [[flood]] affected areas of [[Uttarakhand]], [[Himachal Pradesh]], and [[Uttar Pradesh]]. In India's federal system, the state government holds the responsibility for disaster management. The national government plays a ‘supporting role’. The ‘nodal Ministry’ in the central government for management of natural disasters, is the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). The “apex Body for Disaster Management" in India, mandated by the [[Disaster Management Act, 2005]], is the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). The NDRF, under the NDRM consists of 12 battalions, and is organised along the lines of a paramilitary force. On 19 June, the day Operation Ganga Prahar became Operation Surya Hope, and the strength of the Army in the affected area was 5,600.<ref name="ganga prahar, pioneer"/><ref name="PMO, 19 june" /> By 27 June 2013, the Army's numbers in the mission area had increased to above 8,500.<ref name="TOI, 27 June" /> Army's [[disaster response]] units included infantry battalions, [[Indian Army Service Corps|Army Service Corps]] units to provide [[Military logistics|Logistic and Supply]] support, signals regiment, engineer regiments, advance dressing stations and other medical units, special forces, specialised mountain troops, paratroopers, and army aviation corps assets. The [[Army Aviation Corps (India)|Army Aviation Corps]] deployed 13 helicopters (nine on 19 June and an additional four the next day). This is the largest humanitarian mission by the Indian Army in several decades.<ref name="Press Trust of India , 19 june" />

By 23 June, the total number of aircraft involved in the evacuation, relief, rescue, and search tasks, according to government sources, was 83 (IAF-45, Army-13, state government hired civil helicopters- 25).<ref name="TOI, 27 June"/> The helicopters carried out their mission in hazardous mountain conditions, often in rain and fog, in what one pilot called a "war like situation". On 24 June, [[Air Chief Marshal]] [[Norman Anil Kumar Browne]], the Chief of the Indian Air-force, to assure the people cut off in the mountains, by the bad weather, road blocks, and the floods, said "Our helicopter rotors will not stop churning till such time we get each one of you out. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) deployed 13 teams (a total of 422 persons) from two NDRF battalions in six locations, as follows: five teams (174 personnel) in Rudraprayag District, three teams (89 personnel) in the Haridwar area, one team (33 personnel) in Guptkashi, one team (29 personnel) in Lakshar, one team (40 personnel) in Gaurikund, one team (45 personnel) in Dehradun, and one team (12 personnel) at Jolly Grant Airport. == Conduct ==
For relief and rescue operations, the Army divided the affected areas into four axes, or sub sectors: [1] [[Rishikesh]] – [[Uttarkashi]] – [[Harsil]] – [[Gangotri]] axis [2] [[Rudraprayag]] – [[Kedarnath]] axis [3] [[Joshimath]] – [[Badrinath]] axis and Dharchhula – Tawaghat axis, and [4] [[Pithoragarh district|Pithoragarh]] district, in [[Kumaon division]].<ref name="MOD, 20 june">{{cite web|title=Army Reaches Isolated People|url=http://pib.nic.in/newsite/erelease.aspx|publisher=Press Information Bureau|accessdate=27 June 2013|author=Ministry of Defence|date=20 June 2013}}</ref> The Army's response plan consisted of three broad phases. On 19–20 June, the Army conducted reconnaissance and carried out air evacuation of people stranded along [[Govindghat]]-[[Badrinath]] road, track from Ghagriya to [[Hemkund]] to Badrinath and Ghagriya.<ref name="Operation Surya Hope, 19 June 13, website" /> By evening 19 June, the Army had evacuated 1,610 civilians in Uttarkashi district, 3,034 in Joshimath sector, and 1,550 people from [[Govindghat]]. Shelter, food and medical aid had been provided to 1,300 people in the Uttarkashi area and 1,276 in Joshmith, while medical teams had treated 300 people in Joshimath, 150 in [[Harsil]], and 70 in Rudraprag.<ref name="Operation Surya Hope, 19 June 13, website" /> By evening on 20 June the Army reported that it had "rescued more than 11000 people, mainly from Govindghat and [[Harsil]]", and was sheltering, feeding, and providing medical assistance to about 10,000. On 20 June the army opened the road up to Uttarkashi, and to Sonprayag on Kedarnath axis. On the same day it launched a bridge across Vasuki Ganga between Mundkatiya and Sonprayag, and started work on the repair of the bridge over [[Alaknanda]] between Govindghat and Ghagria on Hemkund Sahib track.<ref name="MOD, 20 june"/> On 20 June, the army, started work on the maintenance and improvement, and expansion of [[helipad]] at Gagaria on Hemkund Sahib axis to make it ready to accommodate the larger MI-17 helicopter to allow for speedier aerial evacuation.<ref name="Operation Surya Hope, 19 June 13, website" /><ref name="MOD, 20 june"/> Following aerial reconnaissance on 19 June, the army on 21 June dropped Paratroopers in Rudraprayag-Kedarnath, Jungle Chatti, and other in accessible areas to establish contact with to stranded pilgrims and commence relief and evacuation operations. On 23 June, phase three of the Army's operation began. The priorities of phase three included relief, rescue, search, and evacuation operations. Medical aid formed an important component of the mission. Doctors from [[Army Medical Corps]] (AMC), and nurses from the [[Military Nursing Service]] were amongst the lead elements to be deployed in the area. By 19 June it was reported that 12 self-sufficient medical teams were deployed in the area. An emergency medical helpline was opened, and military communication channels were provided to affected people to speak with their families and friends.<ref name="Operation Surya Hope, 19 June 13, website"/>

By 25 June the strength of ‘self sufficient’ military medical posts, it was reported, had increased to 29. An ‘Accident and Emergency Services Medical Centre’ was established at Joshimath Helipad. These medical posts were manned by Army doctors, nurses, and para-medics. Medical camps were reported ready at Gothi, Dharchula, Gauridham, Tijam, and the Military Hospital at Pithoragarh, was opened for civilian casualties along the Pithoragarh – Dharchula – Tawaghat axis. Thousands of patients were provided medical attention at these facilities daily. In addition, the IAF deployed Air Force Rapid Action Medical Teams, with the air stations, and detachments.<ref name= "medical, 25 june">{{cite web|title=Armed Forces Medical Services Personnel Provides Maximum Medical Aid to Flood Victims|url=http://pib.nic.in/newsite/erelease.aspx|publisher=PIB|accessdate=9 July 2013|author=Ministry of Defence|date=25 June 2013}}</ref> On 26 June a team of two psychiatrists from the Army Medical Corps(AMC) opened a post disaster and trauma counselling centre in the Joshimath sector, to provide counselling to the civil population stranded at Badrinath and Kedarnath.<ref name="IA, 26 june"/>
The same day teams from the Army Veterinary Corps consisting of a veterinary doctor and two paramedics were inserted by helicopter to establish Animal Aid Posts along the Hemkund axis to take care of ponies and mules stranded in the area. Similar aid posts were planned for Gauri Kund.<ref name="IA, 26 june"/>

In addition to humanitarian operations in the high [[Himalayas]], Central Command carried out rescue, relief, and assistance missions in the flood affected areas on the plains in Uttar Pradesh. Six Army humanitarian columns were deployed on 20 June to cover the [[Pilibhit]], [[Muzaffarnagar]], [[Laksar]] and [[Amroha]] districts in [[Uttar Pradesh]]. Two columns were deployed for missions in [[Saharanpur]] and [[Bijnor]] districts. In the plains the army assisted with evacuation of flood affected persons, and construction of anti-flood bunds.<ref name="MOD, 20 june" />

== Appraisal ==

The Government of Uttarakhand, and [[Vijay Bahuguna]], the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, have been blamed for not taking heed of the meteorological departments warning, failing to issue timely evacuation advisory, for being ill-prepared, for tardy and disorganised response, and poor leadership.<ref name="Purie , 28 june"/><ref name="Lessons Still Unlearnt">{{cite web|title=Lessons still Unlearned: Another national calamity, another instance of apathy and disaster mismanagement by unprepared state and central governments|url=http://indiatoday.intoday.in/story/uttarakhand-floods-national-calamity-apathy-and-disaster-mismanagement/1/285856.html|publisher=India Today|accessdate=3 July 2013|author=Bhavna Vij-Aurora|author2=Amarnath K. Nargol is sited in Gujarat's southern region near the [[Maharashtra]] border. It lies about {{convert|150|km|mi|0}} north from [[Mumbai]] and around {{convert|400|km|mi|0}} from [[Ahmedabad]] on the [[Arabian Sea]] coast. The nearest town is [[Vapi]], located about {{convert|25|km|mi|0}} away.

The [[Arabian Sea]] is to the West, [[Umargam]] to the south, separated by a river. To the southeast is [[Sanjan, Gujarat|Sanjan]] and to the North is Saronda.

The countryside surrounding Nargol is typical Indian countryside dotted with small farmhouses. Around Nargol [[Domestic buffalo|water buffalos]] swim in the rivers or sparsely populated quiet landscapes of dry savannah. This is possibly because of the large rivers that bring their runoff to the sea around the bay.

Nargol is developed in the field of sports. Cricket and Hockey are most of the games played over here. There are big grounds to play cricket, hockey and many other games. There are many State Tournaments held every year.

Nargol had one of the finest Fine Art Colleges, once covering around 500 students in campus till 2007. The College is located at the center of Nargol, in the Campus of Tata Wadia High School. Wadia (TATA Wadia) High School of Nargol covering around a thousand students was built in 1908 by Nargol Parsi Association and was also known for giving some of the best Hockey players for Valsad District Hockey Team.

The admission notice for kindergarten and junior kindergarten is put up in January. The style of teaching ranges from informal for preschool and a progressively more formal type for older students. No formal homework is assigned in the lower primary levels and limited homework is assigned in the higher levels.

A multi-purpose theatre space known as The Antonians hall was built in 1965 seating over 1,200. It was inaugurated in April 1965 as a venue with modular seating and staging units. The facility is equipped with state-of-the-art stagecraft and engineering systems and has been the setting for numerous Shakespeare and other classic productions of western theatre, as well as musical performances and speeches during school ceremonies such as Founder's Day. The multi-purpose Old Little Hall venue is the old theatre that was built in 1851. It can accommodate approximately 400 people. Plays are regularly staged in English, [[Marathi language|Marathi]] and Hindi, with 11–12 productions each year, including 2 major productions as part of Founder's Day celebrations. The Inter House Once-Act Play competition is held each year, alternatively in English and Hindi. Many of the plays historically have been joint productions with its sister school.

The Alumnus Hall seats over 200 is the more modern multi-purpose theatre built in 1990 as a black box theatre with modular seating and staging units and is normally used to explore new directions in performance art. == Controversy ==

On 14 March 2013, the police and trustees of the Dr Antonio Da Silva High School were investigating allegations that a six-year-old Class I student was handcuffed with a cycle-lock chain, paraded before students of various classrooms and made to clean a toilet room. The father of the boy lodged a complaint with [[Shivaji Park]] police station against a teacher and the headmistress. The teacher allegedly handcuffed and paraded the boy, while the headmistress took no action following the parent's complaint. Despite its short history, the [[Cinema of Nepal|Nepali movie industry]] has its own place in the cultural heritage of [[Nepal]], it's sometimes unofficially called Kollywood.
