==Plot==
Vakratund ([[Sachin Pilgaonkar]]), also known as Vacky, and Bhakti ([[Supriya Pilgaonkar]]) are a childless couple having got married against Bhakti's parents' wishes. Vacky is a talented artist but has not achieved commercial success despite 10 years of marriage. Soon, Bhakti learns from Vacky's paternal aunt, Atya ([[Nirmiti Sawant]]), that Vacky's parents had made a vow to Lord Ganesha after the loss of their three newborn children that they will bring their son to the [[temple]] of Ganapatipule "unclothed" if he is born healthy. However, the vow was left unfulfilled as Vacky's parents died young out of ecstacy of finally being blessed with a healthy son. Shocked at learning this, Bhakti persuades Vacky to fulfill the vow but he soberly disagrees to comply with her wishes for the task being next to impossible. In an attempt of overcome Bhakti's insistence, Vacky and his childhood friend, Kishore ([[Atul Parchure]]), hire a small-time television actor (Satish Tare) to act as powerful sage "Ughade Baba" in front of Bhakti. Ughade Baba instructs Vacky and Bhakti to take a mannequin dressed as Vacky to the temple of Ganapatipule unclothed via [[Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation|state transport]] bus to fulfill the vow and enable themselves to enter parenthood.

On the previous night of Vacky and Bhakti's travel to Ganapatipule, Vacky and Kishore succeed in sneaking such a mannequin at a bus depot into a state transport bus under the backseat. However, they are unaware that after their departure from the bus that night, an unseen international smuggler, Babu Kaalia, who has escaped from prison and has stolen [[diamond]]s worth [[Indian rupee|₹]]80 [[crore]] from the [[Government of India]], had entered the bus and hidden a bag filled with the diamonds in a hollow of the mannequin. The remaining plot of the film focuses on hilarious situations and the highs and lows that Vacky and Bhakti face while travelling to Ganapatipule from the bus. The bus journey is adventurous with the passengers, a totally mixed bunch, from all over [[Maharashtra]], different lives, personalities, cultures and traditions, are all thrown together for this journey. Nevertheless, on finally reaching Ganapatipule, the group is shocked to be confronted by the police, who have an evidence that Babu Kaalia is travelling from the bus in disguise to escape to [[Dubai]] from the port of Ganapatipule with the diamonds stolen by him. At the same time, a mute passenger ([[Vijay Patkar]]) in the bus is revealed to be actually feigning his speech impairment for being an undercover [[inspector]] sent by the Mumbai police to identify Babu Kaalia. Throughout the journey, Vacky has been sketching a portrait of Babu Kaalia with the help of another bus passenger (Jaywant Wadkar) having encountered Babu Kaalia earlier. As soon as Vacky completes the portrait, Babu Kaalia (Pradeep Patwardhan) reveals his true identity and holds the entire bus and the police at gunpoint with the demand for the mannequin wherein the diamonds stolen by him are hidden.

At this point, Vacky confesses to Bhakti that the Ughade Baba whom she had met earlier was fake and that he had planned the drama with Kishore in order to avoid fulfilling the bizarre vow. However, Bhakti requests Vacky to take the mannequin to the temple out of her faith and devotion towards their union and Lord Ganesha. Vacky thus escapes from the bus with the mannequin and runs towards to the temple while being pursued by the gang of Babu Kaalia, the police and the bus passengers. During the persuasion, all the clothes of Vacky are torn off by the pursuers and is only left in his undergarment by the time he reaches the temple with the mannequin and locks himself inside it. In the temple, Vacky's undergarment also tears off after being entangled with the door bolt and is delighted to realise that Lord Ganesha himself has indeed fulfilled the vow by making him appear before Him unclothed. While Babu Kaalia and his gang are arrested by the police for their crimes, Vacky exits the temple in the duplicate clothes of a priest and returns the diamonds in the mannequin that were stolen by Babu Kaalia to the police. In the end, Vacky and Bhakti are rewarded with ₹8 crore by the Government of India for nabbing Babu Kaalia and live happily thereafter.

After leaving the premises, there was not a single taxi to be seen by Ravi as it had been raining heavily and that is when Surendra Sinha had offered Ravi a lift in his car till the crossroads near Ravi's house. In the present, Ravi is horrified to learn from Khurana that Surendra Sinha's dead body has been just recovered from a gutter, and it is evident that he was murdered the same night he was kidnapped, which is why no one had come forward to claim the initial ransom demand.

Despite Khurana's reassurance that it is quite a routine matter, Ravi is nervous and taken aback for Khurana and Kulkarni taking a keen interest in him since he is the last known person to have seen Surendra Sinha. The stress seems to be triggering severe intense headaches and Ravi ends up at the place of Dr. Shah (Sajjan), where he explains that he has had minor headaches earlier which he had ignored, but the pain has now intensified these past few days. After being sent by Dr. Shah for a brain X-Ray, the shocking diagnosis is far more serious than tension as Ravi has a brain tumour that needs to be removed and if not, will cause his death in six months, while there is no guarantee that he will not be blind over even paraplegic as the outcome. Ravi is aghast as he is the sole provider to his family and cannot contemplate a life where he becomes a burden on them, so he leaves without making a decision when the choices are death and a life worse than death. Ravi returns home, deep in thought, and his family's affection and their implicit trust in his ability to take care of them only serve to increase his conflict.

The next morning, at work, Ravi receives the interesting news of Surendra Sinha's grieving younger brother, Narendra Sinha ([[Satyen Kappu]]), having announced a handsome reward of five [[lakh]] [[Indian rupee|rupees]] for any information about his brother's killer. In an effort to better his family's financial conditions after him, Ravi telephones Khurana at the police station without revealing his identity and poses as an informer about Surendra Sinha's murder, in a scheme to frame "himself" as the murderer and collect the reward money for his family, believing that he has nothing to lose and is going to die in six months nevertheless. Surendra Sinha's brother, Narendra Sinha, is ready to pay out the reward after learning about the anonymous informer from Khurana. Acting upon the received information, Khurana and Kulkarni recover the evidence that Ravi has created against himself and it is sent to the laboratory for fingerprint testing. Soon, Ravi is arrested by Kulkarni for the murder of Surendra Sinha and is sentenced to death for the crime by the [[Supreme Court of India]], much to the consternation of his family, and that of Neela and her father.

While Neela and Ravi's mother try to make some sense of Ravi's confession, also approach Narendra Sinha to beg for clemency, Ravi's another intense headache in prison results in him being rushed to the government hospital by Khurana and Kulkarni, where, serendipitously, Ravi undergoes a successful brain surgery with no side-effects. Well-aware of having condemned himself to be hung for a murder he did not commit, a repentant Ravi realises that the only way for him to escape the consequences of his ill-advised actions is to now find the real murderer of Surendra Sinha. In an attempt to save himself from going to the gallows, Ravi succeeds in escaping from the hospital in search of the real killer and is aided by Neela in his pursuit. As part of his mission, Ravi investigates the significant ring of Surendra Sinha that could lead back to the killer and experiences the arrival of Michael D'Souza ([[Pran]]), a kind-hearted and happy-go-lucky small-time thief, from his own logical procedural thinking. On learning of Ravi's plight, Michael pledges to help Ravi nab the real culprit as he is the sole witness to Surendra Sinha's murder. On the fateful rainy night, Michael had threatened the driver of a car at gunpoint and had grabbed the same costly ring from him, unmindful of the fact that it belonged to the already dead Surendra Sinha on the backseat.

Despite Michael's endeavour to identify the murderer, his friend and accomplice, Prakash ([[Mac Mohan]]), a black market dealer, advises Michael to sell out Ravi to Narendra Sinha as Surendra Sinha's murderer in exchange of the reward money. Michael now takes Prakash's advice and meets with Narendra Sinha at his mansion to strike the deal, where he is, however, shocked to identify Narendra Sinha as the driver of the car, whom he had threated at gunpoint and robbed Surendra Sinha's ring from. Realising that the killer of Surendra Sinha is none other than his own brother, Narendra Sinha, Michael claims to be knowing the truth of his crime when Narendra Sinha admits that Surendra Sinha's wife, Mona (Ashoo), had an extramarital affair with him which Surendra Sinha discovered and banished him from his mansion. An offended Narendra Sinha immediately retaliated by smashing glass bottles on Surendra Sinha's head, killing him due to head injuries. After taking Surendra Sinha's dead body far away from his mansion in his car and throwing it off inside the gutter, Narendra Sinha faked Surendra Sinha's kidnapping and announced the reward money in an attempt to cover up his crime.

Upon learning this, Michael sets up the meeting point of an abandoned, ramshackle wooden cottage by the riverside in the hills of [[Maharashtra]] to settle the issue. Before the meeting, Michael visits Ravi's house to find out the reason behind his unusual actions, where he comes to terms with humanity instead on noticing Ravi's sister, Renu, lament Ravi's tragic separation from them and promises to bring back the smiles of the family. At the meeting point, Ravi and Neela meet up with Michael to learn the identity of the murderer, but are later horrified to witness Narendra Sinha shooting Michael fatally in the stomach thrice. Nevertheless, the grievously injured and slowly dying Michael holds Narendra Sinha at gunpoint downright and confesses about his crime to Ravi, who immediately leaves Neela to hold the fort and drives desperately to bring a doctor back in time. While on his way back with a doctor, Ravi also leads Kulkarni and the police to the scene and meets with Narendra Sinha in a clash while Michael is attended by Neela, the doctor and the police. Michael gives Kulkarni his testimony regarding Ravi's innocence and Narendra Sinha's crime and breathes his last in Ravi's arms. As a result, Narendra Sinha is arrested and charged for both Surendra Sinha and Michael's murders and Ravi walks out a free man. The film ends with the funeral of Michael when his promise of bringing back the smiles on Ravi's family is recalled.
