Jairam gets hit by a Tata Grande car driven by his co-actress, Preeti (Bhargavi Chirmule), whose older brother, Mahesh Thakur ([[Mahesh Kothare]]), is the [[Police Commissioner of Mumbai|Mumbai Police Commissioner]] and is married to Meena (Bhagyashree Rane). Preeti had taken the car of Mahesh during the time of the accident so the hit-and-run case becomes that of him. Mahesh comes to the hospital to solve the issue but Manohar has decided to sue the owner of the car by then for a financial compensation of [[Indian rupee|₹]]50 [[lakh]]. Jairam is actually completely unhurt but Manohar convinces him to feign paralysis and remain in the hospital till the verdict of the case.

Though Mahesh and Manohar end up in a face-off in a non-existent case, Preeti decides to confess Jairam that her brother was not involved in the case at all and falls in love with him in the process. While Jaywanti discovers Jairam and Manohar's deceit and severes ties with them both, Manohar leaks the news of Jairam's accident from Mahesh's car to the press and Jairam reads about it in the [[newspaper]]. He then escapes from the hospital and goes to Mahesh's bungalow house to reveal the truth about him to Preeti. == Plot ==
Dr. Parimal Tripathi ([[Dharmendra]]), a botany [[professor]], falls in love with Sulekha Chaturvedi ([[Sharmila Tagore]]) during a women's college botany excursion uphill, when he helps the old guesthouse caretaker to get to his village downhill to enable him to see his grandson who has fallen ill. Meanwhile, Parimal disguises himself as the guesthouse caretaker in order to protect the old man's job, but Sulekha happens to find out about the cover-up one day. She is charmed on seeing Parimal's real personality and the two get married. Parimal loves playing pranks and is the antithesis of regular professors. Sulekha, on the other hand, is in awe of her older sister Sumitra's ([[Usha Kiran]]) so-called "highly intellectual" husband, Raghavendra Sharma ([[Om Prakash]]), and looks upon him as her idol. Thanks to Sulekha's excessive praise of Raghavendra, Parimal develops an inferiority complex and decides to prove that he is in no way a lesser mortal. Raghavendra, meanwhile, has written a letter to Sulekha's older brother, Haripad ([[David Abraham Cheulkar]]), instructing him to send a driver who can speak good [[Hindi]] because his present driver, James D'Costa ([[Keshto Mukherjee]]), uses improper dialect. This provides the perfect opportunity for Parimal to get to see and interact with Raghavendra. Parimal disguises himself as "Pyare Mohan Ilahabadi", a motor-mouth driver, who pretends to hate [[English]] and so speaks only Hindi. Thus begins the comedy of errors as Parimal and Sulekha play prank after prank on the unsuspecting Raghavendra and Sumitra.

Firstly, they pretend that Sulekha is not happy with her new marriage with Parimal, and secondly, they put across the impression that Sulekha is having an affair with Pyare Mohan, and if that was not enough, they get Parimal's long-time friend, Sukumar Sinha ([[Amitabh Bachchan]]), a professor of English literature, to temporarily act as Parimal and portray him as a serious and boring lecturer, the complete opposite of the real Parimal's character. Parimal's another long-time friend, Prashant Kumar Shrivastava ([[Asrani]]), is also party to the prank. Vasudha ([[Jaya Bachchan|Jaya Bhaduri]]), the younger sister of Prashant's wife, Lata ([[Lily Chakravarty]]), suspects fake "Parimal" (Sukumar) of infidelity to his wife, "Sulekha", when he tries to get close to her. Sukumar falls in love with Vasudha, who initially believed him to be Parimal, but Sukumar reveals to her the real drama behind all this mix-up of situations. Lata is also angered over the latest "extramarital" affair. However, towards the end, Sukumar and Vasudha run away from home and get married in a temple with the blessings of Prashant where Haripad coerces Pyare Mohan to "kill" himself so that Parimal could surface. Thus, Raghavendra, Sumitra and Lata come to comprehend the whole enactment with Raghavendra finally admitting that he was truly fooled. The film revolves around the resolution of these funny mishaps.

Numerous [[DVD]] editions entered the market by companies like "Digital Entertainment inc.", "[[Shemaroo Entertainment]]" and "Eagle Home Video". These were released as non-restored, non re-mastered editions and bare bones, void of supplementary features.

==Plot==

The lives of Atmaram and his wife are turned upside down when they see their daughter, Mala's pictures in a magazine. They arrange for Mala's marriage with the son of Ramlal. Mala is opposed to marrying anyone who she has not met, and is at the same time thrilled that the two persons she trusted, one Verma, and the other Sharma had actually submitted her pictures to a magazine, and were now willing to sign her up for a Bollywood movie. Mala is not able to understand her parents' opposition on her way to fame, and runs away from home with a lot of money and hands this money to Sharma and Verma. Greed overtakes Sharma and Verma, leading to the death of Verma. Mala, who witnessed Sharma kill Verma, now is on the run for her life. She boards a bus from Bombay which is bound for Goa. Sharma soon overtakes her, and has one of his armed men on the bus to kill her. And then arrives Mala's admirer Ravikumar, who not only protects Mala, but also accompanies her throughout the journey. Mala starts to trust and subsequently fall in love with Ravikumar. The bus journey is adventurous with the passengers, a totally mixed bunch, from all over India, different religions, cultures, and faiths, all thrown together for this journey. The bus is in the "control" of driver Rajesh, and conductor, Khanna.

While there, Vacky's undergarment also tears off after being entangled with the lock of the door and is delighted to realise that Lord Ganesha himself has indeed fulfilled the vow by making him appear before him unclothed. While Babu Kaalia and his gang are arrested by the police for their crimes, Vacky comes out of the temple in a priest's duplicate clothes and returns the diamonds in the mannequin that were stolen by Babu Kaalia to the police. ==Synopsis==
A rich spoilt girl, Gauri ([[Nivedita Joshi-Saraf|Nivedita Joshi Saraf]]), bumps into a young man, Mahesh Jawalkar ([[Mahesh Kothare]]), and both despise each other at first sight. Mahesh works as a farm inspector for Gauri's widowed father, Dhanaji Wakade ([[Sharad Talwalkar]]), who is a haughty industrialist. Mahesh and Gauri's quarrel results in Mahesh's banishment from Dhanaji's company. However, the high-esteemed Mahesh protests by building a tent in Dhanaji's front yard and challenges him to marry him off to his daughter. After petty misunderstandings, Mahesh and Gauri put the quarrel behind them and fall in love anew, but it will be difficult to convince her father for their marriage as Mahesh is way below Dhanaji's social status. In a bid to overcome Dhanaji's resistance, Mahesh seeks the aid of his childhood friend, Ashok Gupchup ([[Ashok Saraf]]), by disguising him as his elderly, estranged father and a millionaire so that Dhanaji approves his marriage. Dhanaji instantly falls for the scheme before Ashok is shocked by the glimpse of his second daughter, Seema (Surekha Rane), as she is the girl whom he loves from a trip in [[New Delhi]]. Meanwhile, Dhanaji's son, Laxmikant ([[Laxmikant Berde]]), also known as Lakshya, is an aspiring filmmaker and is not interested in the family business. He desires to make a film with a village belle, Ambakka Rede (Prema Kiran), whom he loves and tries to convince his father for their marriage and also to finance his upcoming film. Eventually, Lakshya changes his opinion about his own father and supports both Mahesh and Ashok in their tactics against Dhanaji. Ashok, Mahesh and Lakshya will now try all possible ways to impress Dhanaji to approve their marriages.
