==Plot==
Bhanudas Mahimkar ([[Sachin Pilgaonkar]]), a blind man, and Kalyan Nashikkar ([[Laxmikant Berde]]), a deaf man, meet when Bhanudas applies for a job in Kalyan's footwear shop. Kalyan is skilled in lip reading despite his hearing impairment, and is in a relationship with Manda ([[Sukanya Kulkarni|Sukanya Kulkarni Mone]]), who eventually turns out to be Bhanudas' younger sister. After a brief period of confusion and antagonism, Bhanudas and Kalyan become good friends at a local bar when Bhanudas defeats an aggressive bully in a fistfight with assistance from Kalyan, who uses clock-face directions to tell Bhanudas where his opponent is. Subsequently, Bhanudas agrees to give Manda's hand in marriage to Kalyan, who then hires Bhanudas at his shop as his assistant.

One morning, as Bhanudas leaves his shoes inside the shop and waits outside for a delivery, he bumps into a beautiful, young girl named Sona ([[Archana Joglekar]]) and gets the smell of her perfume. Meanwhile, a mysterious man named Vijaykumar ([[Ashok Shinde]]) walks into the shop and quickly wears Bhanudas' shoes when he is approached by Sona and her accomplice named Pandhari ([[Kuldeep Pawar]]). Pandhari mysteriously ends up shooting Vijaykumar in the stomach fatally and escapes from the shop, while Kalyan is busy searching for various types of shoes with his back turned. Kalyan does not witness the murder but notices Sona's legs as she walks out of the shop with the shoes worn by Vijaykumar. Bhanudas, who heard the gunshot, walks into the shop and trips over Vijaykumar's dead body. Kalyan then rushes to help Bhanudas and picks up the gun which Pandhari had left behind. When the police arrive at the crime scene, they discover Bhanudas and Kalyan next to Vijaykumar's dead body with Kalyan holding the gun and believe them both to have committed the murder, resulting in the duo being arrested by the police after Bhanudas inadvertently wears Vijaykumar's shoes.

At the police station, Bhanudas and Kalyan are interrogated by [[Inspector]] Sarjerao Shinde ([[Ashok Saraf]]), a local police officer, who takes an instant dislike to them and makes them his prime suspects due to their relative uselessness as witnesses. In the parallel plot, Sarjerao is married to Anuradha ([[Nishigandha Wad]]) against the wishes of ACP Vishwas Sarpotdar ([[Madhukar Toradmal]]), his father-in-law and senior officer, although his mother-in-law ([[Ashalata Wabgaonkar]]) is on talking terms with him and Anuradha, who soon becomes pregnant with his child. Meanwhile, Sona and Pandhari disguise themselves as lawyers and visit Bhanudas and Kalyan at the police station in hopes of recovering the shoes. Bhanudas identifies the smell of Sona's perfume while Kalyan identifies her legs, but Sarjerao ignores them both when they insist that Sona and Pandhari are the real killers. In an attempt to avoid the criminals, Bhanudas and Kalyan manage to escape from the police station in the crowd of a public protest, but are soon discovered by Sona and Pandhari on the streets. When Pandhari attempts to kill them, the duo uses the fistfighting method they had learned in the bar to knock him unconscious. Bhanudas and Kalyan then steal Sarjerao's unattended police jeep on a street and are pursued by Sarjerao, Sona and Pandhari. Working together to guide the police jeep, the duo successfully evades both the police and the criminals and accidentally has the jeep overturned in the middle of the street.

Later, Bhanudas and Kalyan secretly return to Bhanudas' home and reunite with Manda there. Sarjerao and the police follow Manda and search the home, but Bhanudas, Kalyan and Manda avoid detection, and escape to a refuge house after Sarjerao and the police drive away. Meanwhile, Pandhari's employer, Jhunjaar ([[Ajit Vachani]]), who is a powerful crime lord, orders Pandhari to murder Sona due to her unsuccessful attempt in recovering the shoes and the fear of her betrayal towards them in future. Acting upon Jhunjaar's orders, Pandhari takes Sona to a secluded place and attempts to rape and murder her in the middle of the night, but Bhanudas and Kalyan inadvertently rescue Sona from Pandhari and bring her to their refuge house safely on humanitarian grounds. As a result, a remorseful Sona apologises to Bhanudas and Kalyan for her misdeeds and teams up with them with the resolve to abandon her life in the [[Organised crime in India|underworld]]. She also reveals that she had joined the criminal forces of Pandhari and Jhunjaar for the sake of her old mother, and also to seek revenge from Jhunjaar for killing her brother, but now agrees to help Bhanudas and Kalyan prove their innocence to the police.

However, things take a drastic turn when Sarjerao spots Kalyan in a movie theatre with Manda and pursues him until Kalyan hides in a local hospital. Bhanudas and Sona, searching for Kalyan, reunite with him in the hospital but the commotion leads Pandhari to target the trio. Although Manda cleverly saves the trio from Pandhari's clutches, Jhunjaar retaliates by arranging Pandhari to kidnap Manda and imprison her at his mansion. To make matters worse, the trio is tracked down and arrested by Sarjerao, but they plead him to release them so that Manda's life can be saved. On humanitarian grounds, Sarjerao temporarily releases Bhanudas and Kalyan on condition that Sona will be held hostage at the police station by the time of their return. Bhanudas and Kalyan then place their rescue plan into action at Pandhari's mansion, with the result that Manda is able to escape, but the duo is captured by Pandhari and brought before Jhunjaar at his mansion.

Jhunjaar, who also turns out to be blind, confesses at this point that the shoes worn by Bhanudas contain a photographic film of the secret plan of the [[Government of India]], which was stolen by Vijaykumar in a deal with Jhunjaar. However, Vijaykumar refused to hand over the film to Jhunjaar on being offered a very less sum of money in exchange, causing Jhunjaar to have Pandhari kill Vijaykumar to obtain the film from his shoes. Following this revelation, Pandhari gains the possession of Bhanudas' shoes and searches for the film, only to be shocked to discover the shoes empty. With the help of Sona, Sarjerao arrives at Jhunjaar's mansion and tricks him into believing that Pandhari has betrayed him. After a showdown between the heroes and the villains, Sarjerao reveals that Sona had already handed over the film from Vijaykumar's shoes to him, and was therefore declared as an official informant by the government with a reward. Finally, Sarjerao arrests Jhunjaar and Pandhari for their crimes and clears Bhanudas, Kalyan and Sona of all charges. The film ends with Sarjerao and his wife being blessed with a baby girl in the presence of Mrs. Sarpotdar, and ACP Sarpotdar taking her away from the hospital by stating "तू माझी मुलगी पळवलीस, आता मी तुझी मुलगी पळवतो!" Shaku ([[Supriya Pilgaonkar]]) is a sober but stubborn young girl, who is orphaned by fate and lives in a slum with her maternal uncle, Damodar ([[Gammat Jammat|Suhas Bhalekar]]), who is a bachelor. Shaku's sole dream is to marry a millionaire as according to her, a girl receives only one chance to change her name and financial situation in life, and that is after her marriage. Damodar works as a butler for Mr. Laxmidhar Kuber ([[Nilu Phule]]), a wealthy industrialist, and his kind wife, Mrs. Kuber ([[Gol Maal|Shubha Khote]]). Mr. and Mrs. Kuber host a grand party for the homecoming of their son, Narendra ([[Sachin Pilgaonkar]]), also known as Naren, after completing his education in [[United States|America]]. During the celebration, Shaku accompanies Damodar to the Kuber residence for help in the domestic chores when she overhears Naren sharing his views on marriage with his friends. Shaku discovers that Naren's only condition is to marry a young widow for not having much time to fulfill all the wishes of his wife.

Realising that he is the only heir to the wealthy family, Shaku is determined to marry him at any cost and disguises herself into a young, homeless widow named "Saudamini" with the aid of Tatya Malvankar ([[Macchindra Kambli]]), a theatre costume lender and Damodar's friend. In an attempt to gain entry at the Kuber residence, Shaku meets Naren in the middle of a street in the disguise and pleads with him to rescue her from being harassed by some goons (who are in fact Tatya Malvankar and two of his assistants in disguise). After Naren heroically fights against the "goons" and chases him away, Shaku pretends to fall unconscious which causes Naren to carry her home in the middle of the night. During her stay at the Kuber residence, Shaku uses her theatrical antics to soon win over the hearts of Naren and Mrs. Kuber, who both become emotionally attached to her and request her to stay for a more duration. As days go by, Naren finds himself falling in love with Shaku and proposes to her with Mrs. Kuber's approval, leading Shaku to consider that her plan has finally worked. However, Mr. Kuber objects to their relationship by citing ignorance about the information of Shaku's deceased husband.

At this point, Tatya Malvankar provides the photograph of an aspiring theatre actor dressed as a military officer to Shaku, who presents the photograph to Mr. Kuber as that of her late husband named "Captain Bajirao Rangade", provoking Mr. Kuber to finally agree for Naren and Shaku's marriage. Meanwhile, the aspiring theatre actor dressed as a military officer in the photograph turns out to be Dinkar Luktuke ([[Ashok Saraf]]), a clerk working in the office of Mr. Kuber's childhood friend, Mr. Gajanan Deshmukh ([[Jayram Kulkarni|Jairam Kulkarni]]), while secretly in a relationship with Mr. Deshmukh's daughter, Hema ([[Kishori Shahane]]). Mr. Kuber had previously asked Mr. Deshmukh for Hema's hand in marriage for Naren. One day, Mr. Kuber visits Mr. Deshmukh at his office to apologise for the cancellation of the alliance, when he suddenly bumps into Luktuke and is shocked to identify him from the photograph of Saudamini's late husband, Captain Bajirao Rangade. In an effort to bring out the truth about Shaku's identity, Mr. Kuber offers Luktuke a heavy bribe in exchange of the latter performing a drama at the Kuber residence. According to Mr. Kuber's plan, Luktuke shockingly arrives at the Kuber residence disguised as Captain Bajirao Rangade himself and claims to have returned to take Saudamini with him back after having recovered from a coma.

Shocked at seeing him, Shaku immediately denies any relation with Luktuke and lies that her husband was a left-hander and had six toes on his left foot to prove her point. However, fate betrays Shaku once again as Luktuke lies of being a left-hander in the past and everyone also discovers that Luktuke indeed has six toes on his left foot by birth, causing Mr. Kuber to be grateful for the coincidence. Still wishing for a chance to marry Shaku, Naren takes Luktuke to a restaurant and offers him ₹1 lakh in exchange of giving his wife a divorce, but Luktuke strongly declines the deal by citing his love and affection for Saudamini. However, Hema arrives at the same restaurant and is shocked to see Luktuke with Naren. At the Kuber residence, Hema confronts Luktuke over his drama and forces him to come with her but as Luktuke reluctantly refuses to do so, Hema gives up on persuading him and pretends to be in love with Naren to teach Luktuke a lesson. That night, Luktuke returns home drunk and chastises Mr. Kuber in front of Mrs. Kuber for causing the separation of him and Hema. Mrs. Kuber learns about Luktuke's fraud and deceit but Mr. Kuber pretends to ignore her when she insists that he is an imposter. Meanwhile, Naren instructs Shaku to invite home a relative having attended her marriage who can testify that Luktuke is not her husband, leading Shaku to approach Tatya Malvankar and request him to do so.

The next day, Tatya Malvankar arrives at the Kuber residence as Shaku's relative and testifies that her husband is already dead and that Luktuke is an imposter. However, things take a turn when Tatya Malvankar's assistant, Madhya (Madhu Apte), also arrives at the Kuber residence as Shaku's relative and presents the same testimony to everyone. Thus, Mr. Kuber banishes both Tatya Malvankar and Madhya from the Kuber residence and accuses Shaku of having faked her husband's death in an attempt to marry Naren for his property. A heartbroken Naren lashes out at Shaku for pursuing him at the expense of her alive husband, but Mr. Kuber intervenes with Mrs. Kuber and announces to Shaku that he is transferring some of his wealth and one of their homes in Lonavala to her as penance. Further, Shaku mysteriously accepts Luktuke as her husband and agrees to go with him as his wife, but later shockingly uses Mr. Kuber's gun to shoot Luktuke to his death with the intention to sacrifice herself. A remorseful Shaku then confesses about her true identity to the Kuber family and that she has now genuinely fallen in love with Naren regardless of his money. She also profusely thanks Mr. and Mrs. Kuber for providing her with the love of a family that life had always denied to her and apologises for what everything cost them.

Following this confession, Shaku tearfully states that she is ready to surrender herself to the police and be sentenced to death for murdering Luktuke. However, in a plot twist, Mr. Kuber reveals that he had already loaded his gun with fake bullets and thus Luktuke turns out to be alive. Moreover, Mr. Kuber confesses about Luktuke's true identity to everyone and that he was testing Shaku's love for Naren by performing this drama. On the night when everyone was convinced on discovering Luktuke's sixth toe, Mr. Kuber had already discovered the truth about Shaku from Damodar, who refused to cheat or lie to the family. Eventually, Mr. Kuber agrees for Naren and Shaku's marriage and Luktuke also apologises to Shaku for making her life miserable. Just then, Hema and Mr. Deshmukh arrive at the scene and Mr. Kuber presents Luktuke to Mr. Deshmukh as a prospective groom for Hema. Mr. Deshmukh is shocked to meet Luktuke and comically berates him for his negligence and absence towards work. The film ends with the collective marriage of Naren and Shaku and Luktuke and Hema.
