'''Solar''' is a neighbourhood in the city of [[Erode]]. It comes under the administrative control of [[Erode City Municipal Corporation]]. It is located 5 km from [[Erode Junction]]. It is located at the junction of Vellakoil and Karur roads.

==Proposed Bus Terminal and Market==
A new Bus Terminal and Integrated Central Market has been proposed at Solar, to reduce the burden in [[Erode Central Bus Terminus|Central Bus Terminus]]. The 52acre land owned by the [[Erode City Municipal Corporation]] along the Karur Road has been identified for this New Bus Terminal project.

==Solar Road Junction==
The area received its name due to the physical road junction of two major roads at this location. One of the branches leads towards "[[Karur]]" and the other towards "[[Mulanur]]". It is called as ''Solar Pirivu'' in Tamil. Solar Corner is about half-a-kilometer north of Solar Junction where HP petrol pump (KTC Agency) lies. The [[Karur]] and [[Mulanur]] Highways join at Solar junction and pass towards solar corner as a single highway for about 1 km. At solar corner, again the roads splits into three; one directly towards [[Panneerselvam Park]] called as Old Karur Road; the second is Kollampalayam Inner Bypass Road and the third is Odappalli Barrage Road to enter Namakkal district.

==Residential Areas==
More than four decades ago, Solar used to be full of agriculture lands. Today, due to the expansion of Erode City, Solar is becoming a residential area. Some of the major residential colonies include E.B. Colony, Eranian Street, Lakshmi Nagar, C.S.I. Colony, Balusamy Nagar, Municipal (Nagaratchi) Nagar, Roja Nagar, Transport (Pokkuvarathu) Nagar, Puthuvalasu and Lakkapuram.
