Padmaja Naidu was born in Hyderabad to a Bengali mother and a Telugu father. Her mother was the poet and Indian freedom fighter, [[Sarojini Naidu]]. At the age of 21, she co-founded the  [[Indian National Congress]] in the Nizam ruled [[princely state]] of [[Hyderabad state|Hyderabad]]. She was jailed for taking part in the &amp;quot;[[Quit India]]&amp;quot; movement in 1942. After Independence, she was elected to the Indian Parliament in 1950. After her marriage, Naik, started writing radio plays about the trials and tribulations of middle class life for the local [[Akashavani]] station. Encouraged by the popularity she started writing and contributing poems, short stories and articles for prominent Kannada periodicals such as [[Sudha (weekly magazine)|Sudha]], [[Prajavani]] and Taranga. When her novella, &#039;&#039;Nele Bele&#039;&#039;, won an award in the annual novella competition conducted by Sudha magazine, she was invited by the writer [[P. Lankesh]] to contribute to his newly started tabloid &#039;&#039;[[Lankesh Patrike]]&#039;&#039;. Naik started writing regularly for the tabloid and was soon recognized for her sensitivity, social commitment and progressive views. Basavaraj Patil Attur was born in Attur, a village in [[Basavakalyan]] Taluk of [[Bidar District]] on 19 September 1952. His Parents Shri Shankereppa Patil and Smt Gurlingamma Patil Were the Landlords And Were Popular Among the locals For Philanthropical Deeds. After his  graduation in B.A  from Karnataka University he was drawn to politics. He was elected as TDB member (Taluk Development Board) in 1978.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
He contested for Assembly Seat of Basavakalyan in 1983 and emerged victorious in his very first attempt. He is also the Founder President of Basavakalyan Educational Trust which runs Basavakalyan Engineering College. He was awarded the best Citizen of India Award in 2002 by Delhi-based Publication House in the category of social service.&lt;br /&gt;
