&#039;&#039;&#039;Madan Mohan Malaviya Park&#039;&#039;&#039; &#039;&#039;formerly known as&#039;&#039; &#039;&#039;&#039;Minto Park&#039;&#039;&#039;, is a park in [[Allahabad|Prayagraj]], [[India]].&amp;lt;ref&amp;gt;[https://archive.today/20130726103345/http://www.hindustantimes.com/News-Feed/NM11/It-s-time-for-beautification-of-Khusrobagh-and-Minto-Park/Article1-101394.aspx] &amp;lt;/ref&amp;gt; It is located in  the southern part of the city along the banks of [[Yamuna river]].&amp;lt;ref&amp;gt;[https://archive.today/20130726103308/http://www.hindustantimes.com/India-news/UttarPradesh/Fake-stamp-paper-racket-busted-in-Allahabad-4-held/Article1-279636.aspx] &amp;lt;/ref&amp;gt; The park is a historical site for in 1858 [[Charles Canning, 1st Earl Canning|Earl Canning]] read out the declaration of [[Queen Victoria#Empress|Queen Victoria&#039;s Proclamation]] which resulted in the complete transfer of control over [[India]] from The [[East India Company]] to the [[government of Britain]]. To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the event [[Gilbert Elliot-Murray-Kynynmound, 4th Earl of Minto|Earl of Minto]] installed a proclamation pillar in 1908. The marble pillar was topped with busts of Queen Victoria and Edward VII.
