Bidar has been home to one of the oldest military air bases in south India. The Air Force Station at Bidar is a training school run by the Indian Air Force and also is the backyard of the Suryakiran Aerobatics Team (SKAT). In pursuance to the long pending demand of having a Civilian Airport at Bidar, the Indian Air Force agreed upon its airbase to be used for commercial flight operations. A Civil Terminal in the year 2008-09 was built ahead of the Guru-ta-Gaddi celebrations at the Gurudwara Sri Nanak Jhira Sahib, Bidar.<br />
