In his lawyers career Gupta served as Advocate General of [[Jammu and Kashmir (state)|Jammu and Kashmir]], Senior Central Government Standing Counsel of [[Jammu and Kashmir High Court]]. He associated with the Bar council activities, held the offices of Bar President and Secretary.
