==Career==
Kimi Katkar made her acting debut in the 1985 film ''Patthar Dil'' as a supporting actress. Later that year, she starred in ''[[Adventures of Tarzan]]'', where she played the lead opposite [[Hemant Birje]]. After the film, she continued to work throughout the late 1980s, followed by notable films such as ''[[Mera Lahoo]]'' (1987), ''[[Dariya Dil]]'' (1988), ''[[Sone Pe Suhaaga]]'' (1988), ''[[Gair Kanooni]]'' (1989), ''[[Jaisi Karni Waisi Bharnii]]'' (1989) and ''[[Khoon Ka Karz]]'' (1991).

In the hit 1991 film ''[[Hum (film)|Hum]]'' (1991), she played the lead actress opposite [[Amitabh Bachchan]]. In the film, she was cast as Jumma. In December 2014, On the birth anniversary of freedom fighter and Jat royal Raja Mahendra Pratap in western Uttar Pradesh's Aligarh city took a huge blow when a party MP, who had campaigned for the event last week, was not allowed to speak on camera at an event organised on the occasion. The organisers, the Jat Mahasabha, stopped BJP MP Satish Gautam when he tried to speak to a TV reporter. Gautam had to leave Raja Mahendra Pratap Park, named after the Jat king.

Raja Mahendra Pratap had given land to the famous Aligarh Muslim University on lease when he was a part of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan's movement that led to the formation of AMU's precursor, the Mohamedan Anglo-Oriental College, in 1875. The Raja, who was an alum of the college, later became a freedom fighter and was considered close to Marxist and nationalist leaders in India and abroad. In November 2019, The Uttar Pradesh cabinet gave its nod to setting up of a new university in Aligarh named after Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh. "After becoming MP in 2014, I had demanded that Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh be given his due and AMU should give reservation to OBCs, SCs and STs. We have got the new university for the brighter future of the local youth. In May 2018, Satish Kumar Gautam triggered unrest when he demanded the portrait of [[Muhammad Ali Jinnah]] be removed from [[Aligarh Muslim University]], Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. Violent protests ensued, allegedly led by Hindu activists, over the portrait of the founder of [[Pakistan]] and former [[Muslim League (Pakistan)|Muslim League]] leader. Satish sparked controversy once more in the month of May when a video surfaced of the MP abusing power in an attempt to interfere with the railway schedule. ==Plot==

Raj ([[Bobby Deol]]) and Priya ([[Kareena Kapoor]]) meet by chance and fall in love after a whirlwind romance. They marry and reside in [[Switzerland]], where they meet another Indian couple: Vikram ([[Akshay Kumar]]) and Sonia ([[Bipasha Basu]]). The couples quickly become friends and decide to go on a Christmas vacation together to [[Mauritius]].

During their vacation, Raj sees Vikram with another woman, kissing and looking intimate. At the same time, Sonia begins to try to seduce Raj, who rejects her. Vikram notices Raj looking at Sonia and casually talks to him about [[Swinging (sexual practice)|wife swapping]], this upsets Raj and an argument breaks out between the two men. However, a couple of days later, they resolve their issues and become friends again. On Vikram's birthday, the two men celebrate by getting drunk together, sharing bottles of alcohol. Once again, Vikram asks whether he could become Raj for one night and tells Raj to become Vikram, which Raj rebuffs, but still, both men end up in opposite houses.

The next day Raj wakes up to find a woman in bed and realizes he is in Vicky's house. After talking to Priya about last night, he imagines Vicky was able to seduce and convince Priya to go ahead with his wife swapping and Priya allows Vicky to have sex with her. After some time, Sonia is found dead, and Raj is accused of her murder since his fingerprints are found on the murder weapon - an alcohol bottle. Determined to prove his innocence, Raj manages to escape from the court and is chased by the [[Switzerland|Swiss]] police. He meets Priya, who eventually believes his innocence and aids him in finding out what really happened. He decides to search Vikram's house, only to be interrupted by Vikram, who calls the police and then reveals that everything was planned in advance. Raj escapes in Vikram's car with Priya.

Raj finds a boarding pass that belongs to Sonia Bajaj, which states that Sonia arrived in [[Zurich]] on 29 December — however, Sonia was supposedly murdered on that night. Raj suspects her to be the woman he saw with Vikram, traveling to [[Geneva]] together. In Geneva, Raj meets an insurance officer who is trying to find evidence that Vikram was involved in the death of his wife, in order to receive her life insurance payment of $100 million. Working with the insurance agent, Raj traces Vikram to a cruise ship. There, he sees Vikram dancing with a woman who is revealed to be 'Sonia', alive and well. Raj confronts Vikram, who finally explains the whole devious plan - the woman whom he kissed in Mauritius was his actual wife Sonia Bajaj ([[Mink Brar]]), while the woman with him that Priya and Raj were introduced to in Switzerland is his girlfriend Neeta. Vikram, a struggling musician, married the wealthy and glamorous Sonia and convinced her to take out an insurance plan of $100 million on herself. He then formulated a plan with Neeta to have Sonia murdered so that they could collect the money.

Vikram boasts about having pinned the murder on Raj. However, Raj takes Vikram to a computer and shows him his empty bank account. Raj says that he had guessed the password, "Everything is planned", something that Vikram used to say a lot, and used it to transfer the money back to the insurance company. Raj also reveals that everything Vikram said had been recorded. A fight erupts between the two and Neeta dies in the conflict. Angered at losing Neeta, Vikram gets aggressive, killing the insurance officer and seemingly kills Raj. He chases Priya to kill her too, but soon it was revealed that Raj was alive and he impales Vikram by an anchor from the cruise ship, killing him. Raj and Priya return to India in the end.

According to a tradition recorded by [[Joseph Tiefenthaler]] in the 1700s, Shahabad occupied the site of a former village called Angadpur, after its founder Angad, the nephew of [[Rama]].<ref name="Gazetteer">{{cite book |last1=Nevill |first1=H.R. |title=Hardoi - A Gazetteer |date=1904 |publisher=Government Press |location=Allahabad |pages=266–74 |url=https://archive.org/details/in.ernet.dli.2015.48076 |access-date=17 May 2021}}</ref> Modern Shahabad was founded in 1677 by one Nawab Diler Khan, a [[Pathan]] officer in the Mughal army, who had been sent to quell an uprising in [[Shahjahanpur]].<ref name="Gazetteer"/> He overthrew the Pande Parwars of [[Angni Khera]] (which, according to [[H.R. Nevill]], is probably the correct form of Tiefenthaler's "Angadpur") and was in turn granted their territory as a [[jagir]], upon which he then founded Shahabad.<ref name="Gazetteer"/>

Diler Khan populated the new city of Shahabad with fellow Pathan kinsmen and soldiers, and many of the neighbourhoods of the city today bear the names of his followers.<ref name="Gazetteer"/> He built a brick palace at the centre of town, called the ''Bari Deorhi'', which Tiefenthaler described upon his visit in 1770 as being "strengthened by towers like a fortress, with a [[Vestibule (architecture)|vestibule]] and a covered [[colonnade]]."<ref name="Gazetteer"/> The palace no longer exists, although the two grand gateways are still standing.<ref name="Gazetteer"/> Diler Khan also built the city's [[Jama Masjid]] as well as his own mausoleum.<ref name="Gazetteer"/> Both of them are built out of dressed [[kankar]] blocks.<ref name="Gazetteer"/> The mausoleum's upper story contains bands of florid decoration in red stone, a style common to architecture of that period which can also be seen in the complex surrounding the [[Taj Mahal]] in [[Agra]].<ref name="Gazetteer"/> He also built a grand pond near the mausoleum, known as ''Narbada''.<ref name="Gazetteer"/>

The descendants of Nawab Diler Khan Daudzai also moved to a nearby area which under the zamindari and named this place as Wazirabad which is now known as village HARRAI, comes under Tehsil Shahbad, District Hardoi.

The total number of literates in Shahabad was 44,078, which constituted 54.9% of the population with male literacy of 60.6% and female literacy of 48.5%. The effective literacy rate of 7+ population of Shahabad was 63.8%, of which male literacy rate was 70.3% and female literacy rate was 56.3%. The [[Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes]] population was 6,558 and 9 respectively.
