Syed Sibtey Razi (born 7 March 1939) is an Indian politician belonging to the Indian National Congress who has served as the Governor of the states of Assam and Jharkhand in addition to also serving as the deputy home minister of India.

Early life
Razi was born on 7 March 1939 to Syed Wirasat Husain and Razia Begum in Rae Bareli. He went to school at the Husainabad Higher Secondary school, and then to the Shi'a College where he was President of the Student Union. During the same period he maintained accounts for two restaurants Kays Kozy Corner and Hotel Krishna, where he worked for Prem Narain Tandon, a local businessman. He earned his B. Com. from Lucknow University where he was elected President of the Commerce Association. Syed Sibtay Razi formed a socio-cultural association called 'Anjuman Adab-e-Atfal in Lucknow. He is Life President of this Association. It organizes children's tour, local & within the state as well. It helps lower income group's wards with a library at its office. It awards the children with various prizes, organizes competitions, and the best child is awarded with the title of 'Anjuman Blue' annually.

Political life
He joined the Uttar Pradesh Youth Indian National Congress (INC) in 1969 and became the head of the Youth Congress in 1971 and continued to lead the Congress until 1973. He was a member of the Rajya Sabha from 1980 to 1985 and General Secretary of the U.P. Congress committee from 1980 to 1984. He served a second term in the Rajya Sabha from 1988 to 1992 and served a third term from 1992 to 1998.

Sibtey Razi created controversy in March 2005 when the NDA, with its 36 MLAs along with letters of support from five independents,
thus with a total support of 41 in an 81-member assembly (the strength of Jharkhand State Assembly is 82 which includes one nominated member) staked claim to form the government after elections in the state. However, Governor Razi refused to accede and instead, invited Shibu Soren of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha to form the government. This started a chain of dramatic political events as supporters of the new Chief Minister tried to intimidate the independents supporting the NDA, as a result of which the five were secreted away to New Delhi by the BJP and paraded before the media and the President.
Subsequently, an NDA government led by Arjun Munda was sworn into office on 13 March 2005 and the government went on to prove its majority on the floor of the House.
Sayedna Iftekhar Ahmed Sharif (22 February 1920 – 1 March 1995), often mononymously credited as Iftekhar, was an Indian actor who mainly worked in Hindi cinema. He is especially known for his roles as a police officer.

Career
Iftekhar was born in Jalandhar and was the eldest among four brothers and a sister. After completing his matriculation, Iftekhar did a diploma course in painting from Lucknow College Of Arts. Iftekhar had a passion for singing and was impressed with the famous singer Kundanlal Sehgal. In his 20s, Iftekhar travelled to Calcutta for an audition conducted by the music composer Kamal Dasgupta, who was then serving for HMV. Dasgupta was so impressed by Iftekhar's personality that he recommended his name to M. P. Productions as an actor.

Iftekhar made his debut in the 1944 film Taqraar, which was made under the banner of Art Films-Kolkata.

Many of Iftekhar's close relatives, including his parents and siblings, migrated to Pakistan during the partition. He would have preferred to stay in India, but rioting forced him to leave Calcutta. Along with his wife and daughters, he moved to Bombay, where they struggled to make ends meet. Iftekhar had been introduced to actor Ashok Kumar during his time in Calcutta and contacted him in Bombay, gaining a role in the Bombay Talkies movie Muqaddar (1950). Iftekhar acted in over 400 films in a career that spanned from the 1940s through to the early 1990s.
His brother , Imtiaz Ahmed , was a famous TV character actor of PTV , especially Afshan and Tanhaiyan .
Like many of the older character actors who populated the Bollywood universe of the 1960s and 1970s, Iftekhar had been a lead actor in his youth during the "golden age" of Bollywood, in the 1940s and 1950s. His roles ranged from father, uncle, great-uncle, grandfather, police officer, police commissioner, courtroom judge and doctor. He also did negative roles in Bandini, Sawan Bhadon, Khel Khel Mein and Agent Vinod.

In the 1960s and 1970s, Iftekhar graduated to playing uncle, father, and what came to be his speciality: police inspector roles, doctor or senior advocate. Generally he played "sympathetic" characters but, on occasion, he played the heavy. One of his most memorable roles as a heavy was as Amitabh Bachchan's corrupt industrialist mentor in Yash Chopra's classic Deewaar (1975). Another of Iftekhar's classic roles was as the police inspector in Prakash Mehra's Zanjeer. It was a small part, but the scene where Iftekhar reprimands the near-hysteric Amitabh Bachchan for taking the law into his own hands is incredibly powerful. Another important role as a police officer was played by him in the 1978 hit film Don. Some of his major roles came in Rajesh Khanna films such as Joroo Ka Ghulam, Mehboob Ki Mehndi, The Train , Khamoshi, Safar, Raja Rani, Ittefaq, Rajput and Awam.

Besides Deewaar and Zanjeer, Iftekar had character roles in many of the classics of 1960s, 1970s, 1980s Bollywood cinema: Bimal Roy's Bandini, Raj Kapoor's Sangam, Manoj Kumar's Shaheed, Teesri Manzil, Teesri Kasam, Johny Mera Naam, Hare Rama Hare Krishna, Don, The Gambler (1971 film), Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se (1978) and Sholay, to name but a few.

Apart from Hindi films, he appeared in two episodes of the American TV series Maya in 1967 as well the English language films Bombay Talkie (1970) and City of Joy (1992).

Personal life
Iftekhar married Hannah Joseph, a Jewish lady from Calcutta, who changed her religion and name to Rehana Ahmed. They had two daughters; Salma and Sayeda. Daughter Sayeda died of cancer on 7th February, 1995.
Biography
Lekh's father, Faqeer Chand Tandon, had studied with Prithviraj Kapoor at Khalsa High School (Lyallpur, Punjab, British India), and had been friends. Kapoor inspired Lekh to work in Bollywood. Around same time, Lekh's brother Yograj was working as assistant director and secretary to Kapoor.

Lekh started as Assistant Director in Hindi movie industry in 1950s and became a director of several hit movies beginning with Professor (1962 film). Though the prestigious film Jhuk Gaya Aasman starring Rajendra Kumar and Saira Bano did not become successful at box office, they are considered classics. His successful directorial ventures at box office include Prince (1969 film), Ek Baar Kaho, Agar Tum Na Hote. His most talked about film remains Agar Tum Na Hote starring Rajesh Khanna in the main lead. Dulhan Wahi Jo Piya Man Bhaye was one of his biggest hits and the film's heroine Rameshwari told The Times of India that Tandon was involved in every aspect of the film. She also said that the film was released without any publicity. Actor Victor Banerjee, who played the leading role in his film, Doosri Dulhan, described him as a director who "loved his craft and could deftly weave the commercial angle in a decently-told narrative." For this film Khanna received Best Actor award and Tandon received Best director award at Filmfans Association Awards in 1983. Then he moved on to nascent TV scene and started directing TV serials. His first offering was Phir Wahi Talash on India's National Television Channel Doordarshan. Lekh is credited with discovering Shahrukh Khan by casting him in his TV serial Dil Dariya. He also directed TV serial Farmaan, broadcast on Doordarshan in early 1990s.
Brigadier Sukhjit Singh, MVC (born 15 October 1934) is a former Indian Army officer who served with The Scinde Horse. He was awarded the Maha Vir Chakra, India's second highest award for gallantry, for his leadership and courage in facing the enemy during the Battle of Basantar in the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971.

Early life
Brigadier Sukhjit Singh was born on October 15, 1934, in Kapurthala, Punjab, India to the erstwhile royal family of Kapurthala. He was educated at The Doon School in Dehradun, and then received military training at the Indian Military Academy.

Sukhjit Singh was/is a prince himself, from the House of Kapurthala. His fondest memory is of rides with his grandfather, the Maharaja of Kapurthala, “in a zebra-driven chariot in the zoological gardens of the palace”, according to an interview to The Tribune.

Military career
During the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, Brigadier Sukhjit Singh held the rank of Lt. Colonel. In the Battle of Basantar, Lt. Col. Sukhjit Singh was in command of The Scinde Horse (14 Horse) armored regiment, which was deployed in Shakargarh. On the night of December 8, the regiment crossed into Pakistani territory and established itself near Nainan Kot. On December 10, Pakistani forces launched a powerful armored counterattack which Lt. Col. Sukhjit Singh's regiment successfully resisted. Leading from the front, Lt. Col. Sukhjit Singh directed his tanks with great skill. His unit forced the Pakistani force to retreat after the loss of only one tank. The next day, under heavy artillery and mortar fire, Lt. Col. Sukhjit Singh led an operation to capture enemy tanks at Malakpur. In the ensuing engagement, his regiment destroyed eight Pakistani tanks and captured one officer, two junior commissioned officers and two other soldiers.

Lt. Col. Sukhjit Singh later received the Maha Vir Chakra, India's second highest award for gallantry in the face of the enemy, in recognition of his efforts in the Battle of Basantar. Lt.
