'''Mumtaz Ali ''' (15 March 1905 – 6 May 1974) was an Indian dancer and [[character actor]] in [[Hindi cinema]] from the 1940s to 1970s. He was the father of Indian actor [[Mehmood Ali|Mehmood]]. He also had his own dance troupe "Mumtaz Ali Nites" which performed all over India.<ref name=":0" /> His career slumped due to his excessive drinking and his family fell into hard times, leading to his son [[Mehmood]] to work as a child artist and daughter [[Minoo Mumtaz]] to work as dancer in his stage shows and later in movies.

== Early life ==
Mumtaz Ali was born in [[Madras]] in 1905. Orphaned very early, he was raised by his nine-year-old sister Karimunnisa. Around 1928, he lived on the streets in Bombay when he met [[B. G. Horniman|Benjamin Guy Horniman]], an Englishman amateur of Indian cinema<ref>{{Cite web|url=http://archive.org/details/filmindia194309unse|title=FilmIndia (1943)|date=1 July 1943|publisher=Bombay|via=Internet Archive}}</ref> and former publisher of the ''[[The Bombay Chronicle|Bombay Chronicle]]''. B G Horniman took him in, invited him to his home and supported him financially. Mumtaz Ali founded at that time a small troupe of street theater, the ''Mumtaz Ali Theatrical Company'', for which he plays almost all roles. ==Career==
Mumtaz Ali joined Bombay Talkies from the first movie of the studio. He was a part of the production team of ''Jawani Ki Hawa'' which was released in 1935. But he had to wait the next year to appear on the screen on the third film, ''Achhut Kanya''. Among his best work was his song "Mein to Dilli se Dulhan laya re" from the 1942 film ''Jhula''. This song was a must to be played at all marriage functions in those days in Mumbai and India. Mumtaz Ali sided with Devika Rani during the Bombay Talkies split in early 1943. He decided to leave the studio in 1945, when Devika Rani left him.

==After years==

== Personal life ==
Mumtaz Ali married Latifunnisa, in October 1929. They had eight children: Husseini, Mehmood , Khairunnisa, Usman, Malikunnisa ( Minoo Mumtaz ), Zubeida, Shaukat and Anwar. Mehmood made his acting debut in [[Kismet (1943 film)|Kismet]] (1943). Minoo Mumtaz made her stage debut for ''Mumtaz Ali Nites'' and became a recognized dancer in Indian cinema in the 1950s.

A [[National School of Drama]], New Delhi alumnus, Shivpuri became the first chief of the National School of Drama Repertory Company (1964) and one of its actors. He later founded an important theatre group of its era in New Delhi, Dishantar.

==Early life==

Later, they joined [[National School of Drama]], [[New Delhi]] and were trained under theatre doyen [[Ebrahim Alkazi]]. After graduating in 1963, they joined the newly formed, NSD Repertory Company as actors. Om Shivpuri started his film career in 1971 with [[Mani Kaul]]’s ''[[Ashadh Ka Ek Din (1971 film)|Ashadh Ka Ek Din]]'', soon followed by [[Gulzar (lyricist)|Gulzar]]’s ''[[Koshish]]'' in 1972.

He shifted to Bombay in 1974. In a career spanning about two decades, he acted in over 175 [[Hindi]] films playing roles as varied as villains to supporting cast.

==Personal life==

His wife [[Sudha Shivpuri]] was also a noted TV actor and most known for her role as Baa in the TV serial ''[[Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi]]''.

Om Shivpuri has a daughter, [[Ritu Shivpuri]], who is a [[Hindi]] film actress and had a son, Vineet. Om Shivpuri died in 1990 of a heart attack. Rajasthan [[Sangeet Natak Akademi]] organises a drama festival every year, in the memory of Om Shivpuri. Her first breakthrough came in 1989 when Kalyanji Anandji chose her to sing "Tirchi Topi Wale" for the movie ''Tridev''. The song went to become huge hit year.

== Early life ==
Kumkum's birth name is Zaibunnisa Khan. She was born in a prestigious [[Muslims|Muslim]] family to father, Sayed Manzoor Hassa,n [[Nawab]] of [[Hussainabad, Jharkhand|Hussainabad]]
and mother, Khursheed Bano.

Kumkum's married Ahmed Khan and after giving birth to a daughter, her family moved to Saudi Arabia.

==Career==
Kumkum was discovered by [[Guru Dutt]]. Guru Dutt was to picturise the song "Kabhi Aar Kabhi Paar Laaga Teere Nazar" for his movie ''[[Aar Paar (1954 film)|Aar Paar]]'' (1954) on his friend [[Jagdeep]] (father of Javed Jaffery, Naved Jaffery), but later decided to picturise this song on a female actor. But at that time, no one agreed to do a small song. Then Guru Dutt finally picturised this song on Kumkum. Later, Kumkum was seen in a small role in ''[[Pyaasa]]'' (1957). The famous song "Yeh Hai Bombay Meri Jaan" from ''[[C.I.D. (1956 film)|C.I.D]]'' (1956), sung by [[Geeta Dutt]] was picturised on her. She was also paired alongside Shammi Kapoor in a side role in ''Mem Saheb'' (1956) and also in lead opposite Shammi Kapoor in ''Char Dil Char Raahein'' (1959).

She was trained in Kathak by the noted [[Pandit]], [[Shambhu Maharaj]]. She showed her dancing talents in the film ''[[Kohinoor (1960 film)|Kohinoor]]'' (1960) with Dilip Kumar. "Madhuban Mein Radhika Nache Re" and "Haye Jaadugar Qaatil, Haazir Hai Mera Dil", sung by [[Asha Bhosle]] for [[Naushad]] were picturised on Kumkum. She was paired opposite Kishore Kumar in films like ''Ganga Ki Laharen, Shreeman Funtoosh, Haaye Mera Dil'' and ''Mr. X in Bombay''. She was leading heroin in all-time favorite Hindi Sad song "[https://hindisong.info/2021/06/22/sad-song-kishore-kumar-mere-mehbub-kayamat-hogi/?preview_id=1251&preview_nonce=061b18b7bc&preview=true&_thumbnail_id=1274 mere mehboob kayamat hogi]" from mr. x in Bombay. This was science fixation movie of that time and Kum kum ji was a great star. The songs like "Khoobsurat Haseena" from ''Mr. X in Bombay'', "Ijazat Ho Toh" from ''Haaye Mera Dil'', "Sultana Sultana" from ''Shreeman Funtoosh'' and "Machalti Hui" from ''Ganga Ki Lahren'', which were picturised on the pair Kishore-Kumkum remain popular since their release to this day.

Kumkum was a favourite choice for writer director Ramanand Sagar. Sagar decided to cast Kumkum as Dharmendra's sister in ''Ankhen'', a super hit film of 1968. In 1970, for ''Geet'', Kumkum was Ramanand Sagar's choice for a small role. But in ''Lalkar'' (1972), she was paired with Dharmendra, while Rajendra Kumar was paired with Mala Sinha. Kumkum was paired with Kiran Kumar in ''Jalte Badan'' (1973), produced, directed and written once again by Sagar. She was paired opposite [[Vinod Khanna]] in ''Dhamkee'' in 1973 and the duet song "Chand Kya Hai Roop Ka Darpan" became hugely popular. She was paired opposite [[Pran (actor)|Pran]] in the comedy film ''Ek Kuwara Ek Kuwari'', directed by Prakash Mehra, which was a blockbuster.

After her marriage, she left the industry.

On 1 September 2014, she became a member of the Standing Committee on Food, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution. She was appointed member of the Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Women and Child Development.

During 2014–2019, Priyanka Rawat started development work in the fields of agriculture, education, health and roads in Barabanki. Priyanka had caught everyone's attention by raising the issue of an incomplete dam on Suratganj of Ramnagar on the banks of the Ghaghra River (now Saryu) in flood-affected Barabanki. After this the dam started being built.
As MP, it was Priyanka's important achievement to repair roads and build new roads in Barabanki. Priyanka's construction of National Highway-56, the road from Ramnagar to Rupidhia border in Barabanki on National Highway-28, was a significant achievement. Apart from this, Priyanka included a dozen villages of Barabanki in Deva Road, Lucknow Outer Ring Road. Due to Priyanka's efforts, a trauma center was established in Barabanki and a college in Daryabad area of the district.

Young was appointed [[Governor of New South Wales]] in 1860 and was immediately confronted by a crisis stemming from the attempt by the Secretary for Lands, [[John Robertson (New South Wales Premier)|John Robertson]], to push radical [[Robertson Land Acts|land legislation]] through the [[Parliament of New South Wales|Parliament]]. This legislation was passionately opposed by the majority of the [[New South Wales Legislative Council|Legislative Council]]. Young agreed to the request of the [[Premier of New South Wales|Premier]], [[Charles Cowper]], to swamp the council with new 21 appointees to get the legislation through, although in fact sufficient members of the Council resigned that a quorum could not be formed, forcing it to be prorogued and replaced by a new Council with appointed life members. In due course this passed the land legislation. The rest of his term in New South Wales was less eventful.<ref name=adb/>
