Dwivedi was shot dead in Farrukhabad district in February 1997. His widow Prabha later contested the election to the assembly. Dwivedi, who was then sitting BJP MLA from Farrukhabad, was shot in his car after attending a tilak ceremony on February 10, 1997, in City Kotwali area. The assassination case was investigated by the CBI. Rajbhar is a member of the 17th Legislative Assembly of [[Uttar Pradesh]]. Since 2017, he has represented the [[Zahoorabad (Vidhan Sabha constituency)|Zahoorabad]] and is a member of the SBSP.<ref name="Candidate affidavit"/>

On 19 March 2017, Rajbhar became a [[cabinet minister]] in the [[Yogi Adityanath ministry (2017–)|Yogi Adityanath ministry]] as the minister of the Department of Backward Classes Welfare and the Department of Disabled People development.

Pramod Tiwari was chosen as a member of [[Uttar Pradesh]] [[Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly|Assembly]] for the first time in the 1980s. He regularly won the Rampur Khas seat. He was the General Secretary of the Student Union in his college days. During this tenure Laxmikant protested in front of many senior leaders and succeeded in obtaining government aids and management for all the Ayurvedic colleges of the state.

In 1977 he became the President of [[Yuva Morcha]] ( Youth Cell) of [[Janata Party]]. During 1980-87 he was District General Secretary of BJP Meerut. 1984-86 he was the vice president of [[Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha|BJP Yuva Morch]] in [[Uttar Pradesh]]. He served as Minister of State for Housing and Urban Developing from 27 October 1997 to 8 March 2002 but because of his good work he was again given the post of Minister of State for Housing. After 2012, he represents [[Maharajpur (Uttar Pradesh Assembly constituency)]] of [[Kanpur Nagar district]] of [[Uttar Pradesh]]. In October 2019, Surya expressed his concern over the short term for the city's Mayor. On 5 May 2021, Surya claimed to have unearthed a scam in [[Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike|BBMP]]'s hospital bed allocation system for [[COVID-19]] patients. He was criticised for reading out the names of only 17 out of the 204 employees in BBMP's COVID war room; all the employees he named were Muslim and Surya was accused of communalising the issue.<ref>{{Cite news|last=Bharadwaj|first=K.
