At December 2020, Trinamool Congress authorities appointed [[Prashant Kishor]] as IT incharge and adviser for 2021 Vidhan Sabha elections in West Bengal.<ref>{{cite news |last1=PTI |title='Adviser' Prashant Kishor has altered political discourse of Mamata's TMC |url=https://www.business-standard.com/article/opinion/adviser-prashant-kishor-has-altered-political-discourse-of-mamata-s-tmc-119110601735_1.html |accessdate=22 February 2020 |work=Business Standard |date=22 February 2020 |language=en}}</ref> There after most of the Trinamool leaders especially Dutta was critisising against Kishor for controlling the party. Kishor's team (I-PAC) went to Dutta's house after that. But Dutta declined their advice and said that what he is doing, he thought that well before doing it.<ref>{{cite web|url=https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/kolkata/shilbhadra-declines-political-talks-with-i-pac-team/articleshow/79519871.cms|title=Shilbhadra Dutta declines ‘political talks’ with I-PAC team|newspaper =Times of India|date=2 December 2020|access-date=6 January 2021}}</ref>

At 18th of December, 2020, after [[Suvendu Adhikari]] resigns his MLA seat, Dutta also resigns from TMC but remained his MLA seat. Although, Mamata Banerjee and Trinamool rejected that incident.{{citation needed|date=January 2021}}
