Tiruppattur Venkatachalamurti Ramakrishnan was born on 14 August 1941 in [[Madras]], [[Tamil Nadu]]. He completed his [[Bachelor of Science|B.Sc (Hons.)]] and [[Master of Science|M.Sc]] in Physics from [[Banaras Hindu University]] in 1959 and 1961. He then worked as a [[Council of Scientific and Industrial Research|CSIR]] [[research fellow]] at [[Banaras Hindu University]] from 1961 to 1962. He started his professional career as lecturer in the [[Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur]]. He shifted to the [[Indian Institute of Science]], [[Bangalore]] in 1986 where he continued till 2003. He also served on the Physical Sciences jury for the [[Infosys Prize]] from 2010 to 2013.&lt;br /&gt;

Spenta Wadia did his bachelors from [[St. Xavier&#039;s College, Bombay]] and masters from [[Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur]]. He obtained his Ph.D. from City College of [[City University of New York]] in 1978. He then worked at [[University of Chicago]] from 1978-82 first as a research fellow and then as a staff scientist. He finally moved to the [[Tata Institute of Fundamental Research]] in 1982 where he remains to this day. He also served on the Physical Sciences jury for the [[Infosys Prize]] from 2015 to 2017.&lt;br /&gt;

Spenta Wadia’s main research interests are in quantum field theory, statistical mechanics, string theory and quantum gravity. There is considerable overlap of these areas in light of the gauge-gravity duality of string theory.
