The village has near 90% literacy rate; the population growth rate is very low and ranked as the least corrupt village. Neighboring villages are Mullassery Grama panchayath to the north, Manalur Grama panchayath to the south.Trichur “Kolpadavu” to the east and “Canoli canal” to the west.  Padoor, Thoyakkavu, Kannoth, Enamave and Kettungal are the major trading and cultural activity centre. The above 70% of peoples are farmers and near coastal area some are fisherman. The village was a part of south malabar of Zamodiri of Calicut and later the part of Madras presidency under British rule.  The famous Hindu pilgrime centre Guruvayur, Christian pilgrime centre Pavaratty and Palayoor very near from this village.  Trichur city 22&amp;amp;nbsp;km from this area.&lt;br /&gt;
The village is predominantly Hindu religion.The cast system amongst Hindus were famous.&lt;br /&gt;
Nambudiris, Varmas, Samantan nair were the ruling class. They were very influential feudal aristrocratic land loard of the area. Pushpaka Brahmins or ambalavasi were also caste who generally served in temple of Hindus was considered lower to Nambudidris. Thre are other cast like backward and scheduled caste. Mappila, Latinchristian, Eazava, Ezhuthachan, kalasi paniker, kalari kurupu, kalari paniker, kaniyar paniker,kusavan,viswakarmas,veluthedan,vilakithalavan,paravan, cheruman, mannan, nayadi,pallan,thotti,vedan,vettuvan,panan etc. are some of back ward and schedule caste. As per historians, the most extreme form of untouchability   was famous in this region. No female backward and schedule class was not allowed to cover their upper part of the body in front of upper caste people.The movement of social reforms and British rule helped the caste related violence.&lt;br /&gt;
Muslim and Christians also live in this area. The Muslim community also known as mappila may have been the first community to come to the fold of Islam. The missionary activities took place on the coast and the number of natives embraced Islam and joning mappila community. Most mappila Muslims are follow “shafii” school of Muslim Jurisprudence. Padoor,(http://www.padoor.com/) Thoyakkavu, Kannoth, Kettungal and Muppattithara Jumah masjids are very famous. Islahi movement also attempting spiritual and social rejuvenation of the Muslim community of this village. By the result a salafi masjid and culture is growing this village.&lt;br /&gt;
The Nassrani mappila (Christians) they are the follower of St.Thomas, belong to R.C. are largely live in this area. Many people had own large estate and engaged in trade cash crops. They also take prominent role in the educational institutions. Thoyakkave, Enamakkal, Konchira churches, and Mullassery capela and celebrations are famous.&lt;br /&gt;
The village also has many educational institutions, Higher Secondary School - Padoor, High school – Enamakkal, U.P and L.P Schools Padoor, Thoyakkavu, Mecherypady, Kannoth, Enamakkal, Kettungal, Kodamukku and Kundaliyoor are famous and old.&lt;br /&gt;
This village is very famous like writers, artist, musicians, journalist, and reformarist. Father Vadakkan, Kuttamenon, Radhakrishnan Venkitandu etc. are famous.&lt;br /&gt;
The village enjoys a tropical climate. Agricutrure and farming depending upon monsoon.&lt;br /&gt;
