The film opened on 5 January 2018 to mixed reviews, with the critic from [[The Times of India]] giving the film a negative review and stating "the screenplay goes haywire after some time, making things quite predictable and clichéd. ". The critic further added that "though the film starts in a lackadaisical manner, there is a point when it makes viewers believe that the plot could have worked with some engaging moments".<ref>{{Cite web|url=https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/entertainment/tamil/movie-reviews/vidhi-madhi-ultaa/movie-review/62390306.cms|title=Vidhi Madhi Ultaa Movie Review {2/5}: Critic Review of Vidhi Madhi Ultaa by Times of India|via=timesofindia.indiatimes.com}}</ref> A critic from the New Indian Express claimed it had "half-baked humour that tries one’s patience".<ref>{{Cite web|url=https://www.newindianexpress.com/entertainment/review/2018/jan/06/vidhi-madhi-ultaa-review-half-baked-humour-that-tries-ones-patience-1745739.html|title=Vidhi Madhi Ultaa Review: Half-baked humour that tries one’s patience|website=The New Indian Express}}</ref>
