INL was accused of homophobia after its youth wing put up posters calling homosexuals as 'cultural terrorists' and demanding death sentence for gays after [[Supreme Court of India]] recriminalized homosexuality in 2013. The posters resurfaced in 2016 after the [[Orlando nightclub shooting]].<ref>{{Cite news|url=https://www.thenewsminute.com/article/madurai-muslim-party-wants-death-sentence-gays-calls-them-cultural-terrorists-44894|title=Madurai muslim party wants death sentence for gays, calls them cultural terrorists|website=The News Minute}}</ref>
