Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Udaan Academy (IGRUA) is a pilot training institute located at Fursatganj Airfield, in Amethi district (formerly in Raebareli) of Uttar Pradesh, India. Established in 1985,[1] it was the first such institute in India.[2]

It is an autonomous institution and comes under the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India.[3]

In August 2013 the Ministry of Civil Aviation announced that a National Aviation University would be established on the IGRUA site.[4]

Courses offered

The institution conducts flying training leading to the award of commercial pilot license (CPL). IGRUA also offers ancillary courses such as Multi Crew Coordination( MCC) and crew resource management (CRM).[5] IGRUA is also one of the approved institutes to carry out Certified Flying Instructors Refresher (CFI Refresher) Course by MOCA, Govt of India.

Integrated Aerospace Development Program

Some pioneer engineering institutes have collaborated for advancements in aviation and Aerospace engineering.[6]

The educational degree will mutually include the name and insignia of all the participating institutes.

Admission process depends on several factors including aptitude, intellect, personality and prospects of the student. The selected students are a group who have qualified the entrance exam followed by an interview and a pilot aptitude test. The students are provided residential services in integrated campus near Fursatganj village which now comes under Amethi district. The educational program will require for transition in between college departments/campuses on an annual even-semester basis.

The Akademi is about 15 Km from Raebareli on Raebareli-Sultanpur National Highway. It is about 100 Km from Lucknow which is the capital of Uttar Pradesh state of India.

The Akademi is well connected by Road and Rail. The nearest civil airport is at Lucknow Airport and Main Railway station is Raebareli Junction.

It Also Started A New Branch At Kalaburagi Airport, Karnataka On 19th January 2021
